Launched in 2001, Liquidnet's pool of natural liquidity enables fund managers to negotiate large blocks of equities directly and anonymously with each other. Today, Liquidnet operates a global institutional trading network in 39 equity markets across five continents with offices in London, Toronto, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney, and Singapore. Expanding its value-added services for the buy-side, Liquidnet now offers a suite of algorithms, data analytics, as well as commission management services. A few years ago, Liquidnet formed an Equity Capital markets Group to focus on helping corporate issuers access institutional liquidity through share buy-backs and At-the-Market offerings. Now it's building technology to connect institutions with private shares.

Liquidnet's Business
Liquidnet runs a full service institutional agency brokerage firm headquartered in New York, focusing on U.S. and international equities. Founded in 2001, Liquidnet operates the largest pool of natural liquidity in US equities for institutional investors with average trade size of 50,000 shares. In 2007, Liquidnet acquired agency broker Miletus Trading to obtain a suite of algorithmic trading strategies. More recently, it developed a sales analytics group and launched a commission management platform. In 2008, it launched InfraRed, an application for corporate issuers to give them an aggregated view of pre-trade institutional liquidity in their stocks.
