The Securities and Exchange Commission announced July 3rd as the deadline for the U.S. stock and options markets to begin the shift to decimal prices from the traditional quoting of stocks in fractions of a dollar. Although the industry has been preparing its systems for the imminent shift, the SEC had not specified a definitive deadline. The SEC is requiring the stock and options markets to create an implementation plan by mid March for a six-month phase-in period beginning on July 3rd.
