The report suggests that alerts and notifications could be a new low-cost tool that allows financial-services institutions to contact their customers through a multitude of channels including voice and e-mail.
"While still in its infancy, alert and notification services promise to have a profound impact on the financial-services industry," explains Richard Bell, a research manager at Financial Insights, in the report.
"In the near term, it offers operational advantages with high ROI.
Longer term, it may well redefine the way retail banking is done.
