Allianz Global Investors Distributors (AGID), an Allianz Global Investors company, has implemented Pyxis Mobile's mobile enterprise application platform to extend Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 information portal to their users' mobile devices. AGID first delivered mobility to their wholesalers in 2004 with Pyxis Mobile and now the firm has delivered additional data and functionality.
"On average, a person spends 35% of their time looking for information they need," said Neal Zamore, Head of eSolutions for Allianz Global Investors Distributors, in a press release. "We wanted to implement a solution for our sales force that drastically cut this time down to produce a competitive advantage. The Apollo Initiative delivers needed information to our sales force so they can spend less time looking for it and more time acting on it to meet our clients' needs."
AGID relies on SharePoint Server 2007 for document management and team collaboration, and identified SharePoint Server 2007 mobility as a "must have" deliverable for 2009. The Pyxis Mobile SharePoint offering, which is available across a wide array of devices including BlackBerry, iPhone and Windows Mobile smartphones, includes several functions: advanced searching and filtering for content, the ability to view and email any document out of SharePoint Server 2007, tailored subscription management, access to client information, dashboard reporting, newsfeeds, announcements and alerts.
"Allianz Global Investors Distributors has a highly mobile workforce and it is imperative that we have a mobile solution that makes our information relevant and easy to find and share, while ensuring system usage when away from the office," said Neil Dewar, Chief Information Officer of AGID. "Pyxis Mobile delivers a robust and scalable SharePoint Server 2007 application that we can deploy to all of our mobile devices with the same configuration in a fast and efficient manner."
"Attention towards collaboration has driven SharePoint Server 2007 to experience huge growth and has positioned it as the primary system of record within the enterprise," said Tom Rizzo, senior director of SharePoint at Microsoft in a statement. "Companies such as Pyxis Mobile are delivering important functionality and flexibility by making SharePoint available from any smartphone at any time and from any location."
"AGID demonstrates their commitment to excellence by providing real-time access of their SharePoint to their field force," says T.L. Neff, EVP of Product Management and Client Services at Pyxis Mobile. "We are excited to provide the mobile application platform that powers their advanced business strategy and look forward to helping them achieve their goals."Greg MacSweeney is editorial director of InformationWeek Financial Services, whose brands include Wall Street & Technology, Bank Systems & Technology, Advanced Trading, and Insurance & Technology.
