Alpha Trading to Measure Latency Using Corvil

Latency monitoring software said to be good at detecting "microbursts" or microsecond-long spikes in traffic.

Alpha Trading Systems, an alternative trading system for Canadian listed securities, has selected CorvilNet to measure and assure low latency across its exchange infrastructure.

The ATS says it chose Corvil because of its "microburst" detection feature, which is said to identify and manage transient traffic spikes. It noted that the increase in high-frequency trading requires the exchange to provide transparency into latency.

Brief spikes in traffic can be difficult to detect. Corvil says its software identifies short-term anomalies and recommends adjustments and optimizations to ensure network infrastructure and applications are running at peak performance.
