SuperDerivatives Hires Sean Carnahan to Head Up Commodities and Energy Division

Cites demand for independent, management and revaluation tools in commodities and derivatives markets.

SuperDerivatives (SD) has appointed Sean Carnahan as global director for commodities and energy.

SD announced the news in the wake of Wall Street reforms that will cause firms to integrate third party data and valuations and adopt them into their best practices.

“The demand for independent, accurate pricing, management and revaluation tools for commodities and energy derivatives makes this market one of our biggest growth areas,” stated Russel Levi, EVP and global head of sales, in the release. “Sean’s proven expertise in delivering front-to-back office trading, risk management and data solutions positions him perfectly to help us meet customer demand in this sector.”

Carnahan will be responsible for strategic sales and business development for SD’s commodities and energy solutions. Based in Houston, Carnahan brings over 12 years of industry experience to the role, and joins from SunGard where he was a global director of the energy and commodities division and responsible for strategic growth in markets across the world. He previously held the role of global product marketing director for two of SunGard’s major energy and commodities brands.

Prior to joining SunGard, Carnahan was executive director at energy trading and risk management solution provider Allegro Development, where he was responsible for the global partnership program and developing two new solutions.

In joining SD at this time, Carnahan noted that institutions on the buy and sell sides are looking for accurate and cost effective solutions to manage the risk associated with the commodity and energy markets and enhance the efficiency of their trading operations. “SD’s independent, market-accurate data and models, user-friendly front office system, innovative technology and expert service set it apart from competitors in the field. I look forward to leading the company in delivering our customers needs and helping them manage risk and maximize business opportunities in these challenging market conditions,” stated Carnhan in the release.
