TSX Group Hires Brenda Hoffman as CIO
TSX Group promoted Brenda Hoffman from vice president of development to SVP and CIO. She replaces John Cieslak, who is stepping down from both the CIO and chief administration officer roles, effective April 30, 2007.
At the top of her new agenda, Hoffman relates, is reducing latency and improving the exchange's ability to handle messaging traffic. "The industry is moving very fast from a reduced latency standpoint, and the message flow traffic to the exchanges is growing exponentially," she says. "So we have to have solutions in place to handle the increased message flow and also decrease the response time."
Hoffman has been with TSX Group since 2001 and has led teams responsible for the TSXPress enhancements to the firm's current trading system as well as the next generation of TSX Group's equities trading engine. Prior to joining the Toronto-based exchange group, Hoffman was a director at IBM Global Services, where she ran a competency center for exchanges and electronic markets in Toronto. --Cory Levine
