ICE Unveils Brazilian Electric Power Exchange
Global clearinghouse and exchange operator IntercontinentalExchange announced the launch of a Brazilian marketplace for trading electronic power contracts, a platform it said will boost pricing transparency in the nation's energy sector.
ICE said that BRIX will include risk management tools for eligible market participants, and will display bids, offers, and trades in real-time. The platform debuted on June 28 with 30 market participants.
"This marks the first in a series of steps to increase transparency pricing in Brazil's power market," ICE president Chuck Vice said in a statement. "We believe BRIX will make an important contribution to the development of Brazil's market infrastructure and will benefit the Brazilian energy free market."
