KAM Deploys StreamBase to Aid High Frequency Trading Strategies
Brazilian asset manager Kairos Asset Management said today that it will begin using StreamBase Complex Event Processing to handle the firm’s high frequency trading strategies for a range of assets, including derivatives, FX, and equities.
KAM, which was founded in 2003, had been using the StreamBase platform to develop algorithms and handle order execution in equities. The firm also uses the technology as the basis for its trading systems while executing deals in markets across Brazil, the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.
“After our first strategies were implemented and in production we started to understand the potential that StreamBase offered for trading multiple asset classes,” KAM chief operating officer Alberto Araujo said in a statement.
“Now, in addition to equities, we have StreamBase running strategies for futures and after a few weeks we have accomplished outstanding results.”
The move comes amid a push by KAM to capitalize on rising trade volume and improvements in electronic trading in Brazil. The firm also operates a co-located server at Brazil’s BM&FBovespa.
In a release, StreamBase chief technology officer Richard Tibbetts said, “as automated trading has become more prevalent beyond equity markets, we see growing interest from firms for technology that allows development of cross-asset trading strategies.”
