Areion Asset Management Adopts Cloud Risk Tool

Hong Kong-based Areion Asset Management Company has implemented the cloud service from Imagine Software to manage risk.

A hedge fund focused on Japanese and Asian equity markets, Areion employs long/short equity and event-driven strategies to invest in a diversified portfolio of equities, options, and futures. Imagine's kit provides risk management for the hedge fund, and allowed it to replace its legacy portfolio management system.

"What drew us to Imagine's platform," comments Giselle Leung, co-founder of Areion, "was its combination of rich functionality plus a very robust and reliable cloud-based service. Imagine allows us to view crucial intra-day risk analysis --spanning everything from VaR, live Greeks, beta exposures and concentration limits -- on multiple desktops without fear of the hardware interruptions or other types of failures we experienced previously.

"Some of the significant benefits we're enjoying," Leung continues, "include customizable live P&L views and the ability to conduct ad hoc, user-defined stress tests on our current positions at any time. And because of Imagine's ability to act as a straight-through processing hub, it was easy to integrate the feeds from our two order management systems and our fund administrator."

He adds: "Imagine also provides live position reconciliation for both of our prime brokers. This is a system we can grow with."

Dr. Lance Smith, CEO of Imagine, comments: "Like all clients of our cloud-based ASP service model, they benefit from straightforward platform integration, fast time-to-market, advanced portfolio and risk capabilities, and easy scalability for future business needs."
