Managing BCP Performance

Business continuity is only as good as the backup network.

Business continuity is only as good as the backup network. With that in mind, Westford, Mass.-based NetScout Systems introduced the nGenius Performance Manager Standby Server, a supplement to NetScout's nGenius network and application performance management tool.

According to the vendor, NGenius Performance Manager Standby Server can be deployed on a local network, in an off-site data center or with a third-party disaster recovery provider. It maintains a frequently updated, replicated copy of the primary server's performance data and configuration settings. If the primary server ever becomes unavailable, the administrator can enable the standby server to assume control of all performance management processes.

In a crisis event, network managers and operations staff can monitor network and application activity with the nGenius solution, says NetScout. Network managers can view which systems and applications remain online, which sites and users are able to continue to conduct business, and how business services are performing on backup systems, NetScout says.
