UBS Taps Deutsche Telekom’s Sany as CTO
Peter Sany, the current group CIO at Deutsche Telekom AG, will become UBS' chief technology officer April 1. Sany will oversee the management of the Zurich-based bank's data networks, telephone and other communication systems, IT security, distributed computing and servers, mainframes and data centers, market data services, user services and desktop computing, and infrastructure architecture.
Sany, 50, brings international and multi- industry experience to his new role at UBS. He held the top technology spot at Novartis' corporate and pharma division before joining Deutsche Telekom, where he had global responsibility for all internal information technology and processes.
Sany started his career at IBM, spending 14 years in different roles with increasing national and international responsibility. He succeeds Scott Abbey, who has advised UBS of his desire to transition out of his current responsibilities. UBS has not announced Abbey's new role.
