IT Hiring Binge Continues
Most CIO's expect to continue hiring information technology (IT) personnel during the third quarter of 2000, according to the RHI Consulting's Information Technology Hiring Index. Some reasons for the additional staff requirements are the need to integrate existing corporate infrastructure and information systems and an increased reliance on the Web for productivity. According to the survey, the New England region is expected to see the largest increase in hiring with 35% of the region's CIOs saying they expect a rise in IT staffing levels. No CIOs expected decreases. Most in demand are individuals versed in Java, Javascript, HTML, and active server page (ASP). CIOs in the Pacific states also anticipate staffing levels above the national average with a 30% increase projected. In the South Atlantic, the increase in hiring is expected to be around 27%. In the wholesale industry, IT personnel look to be in particularly high demand where 40% of IT executives plan to expand their technology staff, contrasted with 2% that expect reductions. RHI Consulting provides technology professionals to companies and maintains locations in North America, Europe and Australia.
