- Computer Outsourcing Services Inc. will receive a $60 million investment from affiliates of DB Capital Partners, the merchant banking arm of Deutsche Bank, and Sandler Capital Management, a communications-focused investment management firm. Proceeds from the transaction will be used to implement COSI's plan to develop 20 Internet data centers by the end of 2001.

- Marathon Technologies raised $25 million in financing from Bain Capitals' Brookside Fund, GE Capital, Permal Capital Management, PSINet Ventures and Weiss, Peck & Greer. PaineWebber Inc. acted as lead placement agent and financial advisor. StoneGate Partners assisted in arranging the financing for Marathon, whose Assured Availability products, which run on the Windows operating system, provide 99.99% uptime for business-critical applications running on the Microsoft Windows operating system.

- Primark Corporation made a 20% equity investment in TradePortal.com, a direct access execution firm offering Internet-based trading and information, including free software and Level II prices. Primark has options to acquire an additional 20% stake and under certain conditions, to acquire a controlling interest. TradePortal.com will provide direct access to execution services from Primark products such as Global Topic, A-T Attitude, www.insiderscores.com and www.Market-Eye.com. Primark will also license certain real-time pricing feeds, user display technology and investment research for use in TradePortal products in return for a percentage of gross revenues.

- MarketWatch.com convinced its backers, CBS Broadcasting Inc. and Data Broadcasting Corp., to inject another $86 million in financing. CBS contributed $13 million in cash and $20 million in advertising, while DBC coughed up about $43 million in cash. Both companies were to receive about 1.14 million shares of newly issued MarketWatch.com common stock at $37.83 per share, based on the average of closing prices for the five days prior to signing the agreement on March 28.
