TheMarkets.com Launches Alert on Analyst Ratings Changes

New service summarizes upgrades, downgrades, initiations of coverage and drops from leading brokers.

TheMarkets.com, a provider of research, estimates and workflow solutions to the buy-side, has launched a new service for institutional investors that provides a snapshot of analyst sentiment in a summary of analyst coverage changes. The service, TheMarkets In Brief, covers upgrades, downgrades, initiations of coverage and drops from leading brokers, and highlights the broker research supporting the coverage changes. "We conduct extensive client research to inform and determine our product development strategy. Time and again, our clients ask for tools that streamline their workflow—tools that cut through the clutter to deliver only the most important information," said David Kim, vice president of product management at TheMarkets.com, in a press release. "In Brief is a direct response to that need, highlighting for clients the most meaningful changes in analyst views," he adds.

TheMarkets In Brief is the only such service supported by the bulge bracket brokers. It is also the only research digest that includes drops, sector tagging and sorting functionality, and direct links to supporting reports. The complimentary service is currently available only to subscribers of TheMarkets.com's research and estimates platform. "In Brief offers an authoritative alternative to other research digest products available today," said Colin Jowers, chief operating officer, Capital Markets Research at Dresdner Kleinwort, in the release. "Rather than relying on rumors and unauthorized information, In Brief reports analyst actions straight from the source. I join the other participating brokers in lauding TheMarkets.com's commitment to protecting the value of broker research for its producers and consumers by ensuring that research is delivered in its most accurate way to the investors who rely on it for informed decision making," he added.

Top Quotes of the Week
Top Quotes of the Week
It wasn't all bad luck for the capital markets this week: Hedge funds had a decent first quarter despite a slowdown in jobs numbers, BlackRock might be heading into new territory as hedge fund managers take a hard look at their counterparties, and the head of the IMF didn't pull any punches when assessing today's global economy. At least we can admire the nice weather and some of the best quotes of the week.
