INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY BRIEFS
Investment-management-industry experts recently convened to discuss the merits of a standard for business reporting. Representatives from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Microsoft Corporation, Nasdaq, Morgan Stanley, Gartner and Thomson Financial led a panel conversation on Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL). XBRL, according to the participants, is being globally adopted by over 170 companies and regulatory bodies. The standard enables organizations to use consistent business reporting that allows for comparisons and analysis to be made, both within one, and across many organizations.
