ClariFI Announces Availability of Barra Optimizer on ModelStation

This eliminates the need to manually move data between the two products, giving portfolio managers greater flexibility to research, test, and implement new investment strategies, according to ClariFI.

ClariFI, a provider of software and services for investment managers, announced that the Barra Optimizer is now available as an optional component in the latest version of its ModelStation . ModelStation provides data management, factor backtesting, model construction, strategy simulation, portfolio optimization and portfolio attribution. MSCI's Barra Optimizer is a software library that enables access to the Barra optimization engine, a portfolio construction tool, on the investment platform.

ClariFI's new integrated offering provides joint clients with turnkey access to Barra's advanced optimization techniques as well as ClariFI's suite of investment management applications.

This eliminates the need to manually move data between the two products, giving portfolio managers greater flexibility to research, test, and implement new investment strategies, according to ClariFI. "Our broadened alliance with MSCI Barra supports our platform strategy to simplify and streamline the entire investment management process through state-of-the-art development and strategic relationships," Donovan Goodreau, ClariFI's Vice President of Sales and Business Development said in a release. "We are delighted that the Barra Optimizer is now available in ClariFI's ModelStation," said Roveen Bhansali, Managing Director and Head of the Analytics Business at MSCI Barra.

"This means that institutional investors can access Barra's industry-leading portfolio analytics in a way that best fits their processes and systems, be it through our proprietary analytics software, integration with their internal systems, or via a third-party platform such as ClariFI."

Top Quotes of the Week
It wasn't all bad luck for the capital markets this week: Hedge funds had a decent first quarter despite a slowdown in jobs numbers, BlackRock might be heading into new territory as hedge fund managers take a hard look at their counterparties, and the head of the IMF didn't pull any punches when assessing today's global economy. At least we can admire the nice weather and some of the best quotes of the week.
