(0)Overview: Leading organizations are becoming more mature in their use of grid technologies. They are pursuing business benefits that include the ability to compete as trade volumes rapidly increase, launch new products to generate revenue, and trade at better margins. IT and operations departments stand to increase utilization of resources, reduce costs, and satisfy the demands of the business. But, organizations continue to face a number of obstacles. These include algorithmic optimization of applications, on-boarding applications onto the grid, performance scaling, data latency, and physical constraints in the data center. Intel is working with a number of hardware, software, and services vendors that provide innovative solutions for the financial industry and can help address some of these obstacles. The aim is to collaborate with grid middleware vendors DataSynapse and Platform Computing, and data caching specialists GemStone, GigaSpaces and Tangosol, among others, to optimize the performance of their solutions on the Intel platform. Based on this collaboration, Intel applies the most advanced technologies to improve data performance on a grid, support virtualization on the processor, and reduce power consumption.
