Overview: Visualization in general and treemaps/heatmaps in particular is a fast growing industry, as data becomes more complex and the need to simply analyze and grasp large amounts of information becomes more important. A significant competitive advantage can be created by reducing costs and speeding up the decision making processes as well as ensuring that the decisions that are made are of better quality. The ability to both analyze large amounts of complex data and manage real-time information feeds is fast becoming a must have for companies in the finance industry and elsewhere. Treemaps appeal more to human perception than do traditional alphanumerical lists, tables or diagrams.
