Fidelity Expands Support to HP TouchPad

Fidelity Labs develops first of its kind app for HP tablet users to access free market data.

Fidelity Investments is supporting the HP TouchPad, with a new app offering free access to the Fidelity Market Monitor for information about stocks and mutual funds.

A first of its kind app from a financial services firm, said the company, Fidelity Market Monitor was specifically developed for the HP TouchPad. Fidelity’s app provides users with instant access to market data including financial news, quotes, charts and personalized watch lists. The app is now available in the online App Cataolog. They can add up to 25 stock or fund symbols to their personal watch lists, which are color-sorted based on the daily movements of each stock or fund (red for negative, green for positive and black for no change).

“Fidelity’s Market Monitor App for the new HP TouchPad is the latest initiative in our ongoing strategy to introduce technology innovations that enable Fidelity to be there for investors on the platforms and services they use every day,” commented Hadley Stern, VP of Fidelity Labs in today’s reease. “Investors can access financial information and services from Fidelity via the Web, mobile devices, the telephone and in person at 159 investor centers nationwide.”

Fidelity also has mobile trading apps for the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and AndroidT operating platforms, and it recently enhanced its Fidelity Mobile browser offering that supports a variety of smartphones, including the BlackBerry.

Fidelity has previously told Wall Street & Technology that it intends to support multiple mobile devices, and is following the preferences of its customers.

“It’s important that TouchPad users have a wide variety of useful apps available in the App Catalog,” stated Richard Kerris, VP of webOS Worldwide Developer Relations, HP. “Fidelity’s Market Monitor App gives TouchPad users an easy way to keep track of the markets and their investments.”

The HP TouchPad application is the latest for Fidelity Labs, which has done early experiments in mobile devices, social media and emerging technologies.
