Finovate 2013 showcased 69 financial technology companies, many of them start-ups, giving them each 7 minutes on stage to show off their latest innovations.
Mitek, the company that pioneered mobile deposit (by taking pictures of your checks), won Finovate's "Best of Show" for the demonstration of their latest mobile photo account opening solution. The crowd was floored when SVP of business development Mike Diamond and senior director Wes Wilk demonstrated how consumers can open and fund an account from anywhere, at any time, with their mobile device with just a few clicks and a snapshot of a drivers license and blank check. The product will launch in 2014.
