"Through a password and user name, the employees can bring up their account and see any activity such as when they were granted stock options, when they elected to voluntarily contribute some of their payroll into this program, what mutual funds they have selected, what other investment vehicles they have selected and the performance of these vehicles," explains Chris Diener, global head of systems development at AXA-IM. He says this version, which went live in December, is only the first phase of the site's functionality. The second version went live in January and allows employees to transact online through the site.
AXA-IM is offering the CAPEASI site as a way to differentiate itself from other money managers and entice new clients. "We felt that going interactive was really the next generation of features and functionality for this type of program," says Diener. "Instead of just sending a paper copy each quarter, we offer a Web site that allows users to interactively see this whenever they want and see the daily performance improvements or decreases in particular investment choices."
The site is currently available in French and English with German and Spanish functionality on the way and supports multiple currencies. In the future, Diener says the site functionality could be extended to include features geared to-ward the administration of the company sponsored plans. "The first round of functionality really targeted the end employee, but the next round will add to the administrative abilities for the institutions themselves," he adds. Functionality for the administrator could include viewing the total number of employees and how they are invested, as well as the total capital invested across all of the investment vehicles and stock options.
