The History of Financial Risk Taking
A new book from Harvard professor Niall Ferguson titled "High Financier: The Life and Times of Siegmund Warburg" covers how financial risk taking has changed over the years. After World War II, Warburg helped to reestablish London as a financial center as he relied on building relationships and how banks needed to have high ethics and morality, or risk losing their reputation in an instant. For instance Warburg only spoke about clients, whereas today, most big Wall Street bank executives talk about counterparties, not clients. Here is an interview with Ferhuson from MSNBC.com.
