LSE Improves Real-Time Data

The London Stock Exchange is targeting fund managers, wholesale brokers and private client brokers who are looking for increased intelligence with its enhanced real-time data product, Level 1 Plus.

Karen Young, LSE's head of business development, information services, enumerates four of the product's new elements: named market share data, which provides daily updates of the top five firms by dealing volume for each U.K.-listed security; fund manager performance data, which gives absolute and risk-adjusted performance information on the top 15 performing fund managers in each of the 22 Investment Management Association sectors; BrainsTrust, which ranks securities within the FTSE350 and UK Smaller Companies Index according to the degree to which the top performing U.K. fund managers are over/underweight in these securities compared with respective weighting within the relevant FTSE Index; and Argus Vickers shareholder information, which lists the top five holders in each security by fund manager name, percentage holding and current and previous number of shares held.

"The enhancements are trying to provide greater transparency across the market for both the buy side and the sell side," Young says.
