Online Account Acquisition - What are the Drivers of Abandonment and Conversion?
March 30, 2010
![]() With increasing complexity and the need for more highly automated operations, the back office will require increased innovation and continued investment. With the economy sending mixed signals, predicting how capital markets firms will spend their technology dollars is a difficult, though not impossible, task. While many financial firms have been forced to budget and manage on a quarter-to-quarter basis during the financial crisis, successful information technology managers have been able to plan and manage with view to long term objectives. ![]() Buy-side trading desks can seem a bit mysterious - even to other buy-side traders. With the markets continuously being reshaped, in retrospect, it's surprising that it took this long for the new role of liquidity strategist to emerge on Wall Street. Yes, Dark Liquidity Pools are Hot, as Larry Tabb points out in his column. Every broker-dealer either has one or is building a crossing network to create one. ![]() Unless details are settled quickly, the integration could put new and renewal agreements on hold, as clients do not often transition to a platform scheduled for sunset or put their faith in a team that may not be there next month. If you think the NYSE-Euronext linkup is only about creating synergies between the U.S. and European securities and derivatives markets, then you are mistaken. Much has been written about the NYSE Group's proposal to merge with Euronext and create a truly global marketplace that spans U.S. and European stocks as well as futures and options. ![]() Today, most financial organizations already have a CRM solution in place. When two organizations merge -- each with its own preferred relationship intelligence software -- how do they determine which system to use moving forward? A few considerations to keep in mind when evaluating CRM include: Regulations focusing on backdating have prompted corporations to pursue technical solutions centered around time synchronization to eradicate the practice. It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that we are in the midst of an online revolution. Often, IT departments, overwhelmed by hundreds of initiatives, fail to meet project goals. But IT portfolio management, overseen by an IT project management office, can help complex IT organizations track and measure projects more accurately, thus increasing ROI. No financial services firm has yet developed a silver bullet for the competitive challenges looming in this highly competitive industry. |
