Thomson Financial to acquire Starquote.

Thomson Financial will acquire the Starquote software solution as part of its acquisition of the Information Services division of the Banking and Investment Group of CGI. The deal is to be completed by the end of the second quarter, at which time Thomson will integrate the Starquote product into its retail and wealth-management group. The solution will target the Canadian market.

Starquote produces a terminal for the Canadian retail-equities sector, with information on the North American financial markets. Starquote offers news, information and real-time quotes on the same screen. The company became part of CGI as part of the Montreal-based vendor's acquisition the Star Data company in 2001.
