Why HTML5 is both the present and the future in finance

Flash and Silverlight, though on their way down, will undoubtedly remain in use for several years to come, but there are a number of catalysts that are accelerating the financial industry’s adoption of HTML5:

1. Technology leaders at many banks and trading platforms agree that HTML5 has won

2. The longer firms wait to rewrite applications, the more there will be to rewrite

3. Mobile is also driving developer adoption because HTML5 is cross-platform

4. It is unlikely that HTML5 will be replaced in the foreseeable future The last point is perhaps the most important. The major technology providers are still battling it out on multiple fronts, but one thing that Apple, Google, Microsoft, Adobe and others now agree on is HTML5. That means that the choice of building a trading application in HTML5 is at the same time cutting-edge and a safe long-term bet.
