Quant Trading Firm Implements Xenomorph TimeScape

TimeScape data management and analytics solution enables firm to formulate ideas in minutes.

Theoriem LLC, the multi-asset quantitative trading firm based in Philadelphia, has implemented Xenomorph TimeScape to provide a fast, flexible and easy-to-use means of managing and analysing large tick data sets.

Xenomorph’s TimeScape data and analytics management platform enables tick data to be loaded, filtered for statistical outliers, sampled with missing rules, filtered again and fed to period analysis functions all in a single query which requires no coding. The easy-to-use interface and business oriented query language enable business users to retrieve the data quickly and analyse it using both out-of-the-box and in-house analytics functions.

Theoriem estimates that TimeScape has reduced the time spent managing data by up to 90%, thereby enabling the firm to formulate ideas in minutes rather than hours or days. TimeScape has also enabled Theoriem to revolutionize its back-testing on tick data to quickly and efficiently calibrate the parameters needed for given algorithms.

The firm is embracing TimeScape’s inherent flexibility and open nature which enables a superior level of customisation as it creates asset classes, adds new data vendors and builds business analytics all in ‘now’ time.

The adaptable nature, not only of the product but also the people, at Xenomorph was noted by Paul Roland, Managing Principal of Theoriem: “There are so few technologies that can keep pace with a user’s imagination, and TimeScape from Xenomorph allows us to manage and manipulate data without limitation. We were particularly impressed by the speed with which TimeScape was up and running and by the responsiveness of the Xenomorph team in addressing our issues.”

As Theoriem looks to expand its use of TimeScape, Naj Alavi, Managing Director of Xenomorph Inc. comments in a release: “It’s great to see the positive impact which TimeScape has made on Theoriem’s business operations in such a short timeframe and to know that the forthcoming technological developments will provide them with further competitive advantage."
