Financial Firm CIOs Strongly Favor IBM, Aite Survey Finds

HP, Microsoft and EMC also popular among the 80 CIO respondents.

Aite Group recently asked 80 North American financial institution CIOs which technology vendors they use and admire most. The winner of this popularity contest was IBM. HP, Dell and IBM were most admired in the server hardware category, Microsoft was the most admired in the database category, IBM/Cognos in business intelligence, IBM in business process management and EMC in storage services.

Asked which technology component they were likely to buy in the next 24 months, 73% said they were highly likely to buy server hardware, 47% said storage services, 39% database software, 32% IT services, 27% business intelligence, and 23% business process management. Those last two categories are a new development; 46% of respondents said they don't have business process management software currently and 26% don't have any business intelligence software.
