Liquidnet Partners with NYSE Euronext for Corporate Access Business

Liquidnet InfraRed product will seamlessly connect buy-side traders with corporate issuers via NYSE's NYSEnet system.

Liquidnet, the global institutional equities marketplace, has partnered with NYSE Euronext to provide a set of new services connecting institutional investors with corporate issuers reached by both organizations. The goal is to improve the efficiency and transparency to the interactions between institutional investors and corporate management, according to today’s release.

Liquidity is launching a new corporate access business with the introduction of Liquidnet InfraRed, which is a proprietary desktop application accessed through NYSE’s ‘NYSENet’ system that aggregates institutional demand, news sentiment and block trading data. For the first time, investor relations officers (IROs) and CFOs will be enabled to take a proactive approach in their outreach to their targeted institutional investors, stated Liquidnet in the release. InfraRed is the first offering in a series of future initiatives that Liquidnet will introduce in building its new corporate access business.

“We have always looked for opportunities where technology can be used to greatly improve efficiencies for businesses in the investment sector,” stated Seth Merrin, CEO of Liquidnet Holdings in the release. “The corporate access business, in its current state, is highly inefficient and a perfect example of how legacy practices often fail to serve the needs of issuers and investors alike,” said Merrin in the release. “We set out to change that and we have created a new and innovative model that seamlessly connects issuers and investors,” he explained. In the statement, Merrin said he believes that the new model will mitigate the inherent conflicts that often arise in servicing both the portfolio managers at our member firms and NYSE Euronext’s corporate issuers. The launch of the new corporate access business expands the benefits of the Liquidnet community which now includes portfolio managers, analysts and issuers,” concluded Merrin in his statement.

Citing Liquidnet InfraRed’s unique approach to corporate access and issuers services, Lawrence Leibowitz, Group EVP & Head of U.S. Execution & Global Technology at NYSE Euronext, said this product complements the market intelligence provided by the NYSE Market Access Center with “unparalleled insights on buy and sell trends, block volume including peer and industry views and other valuable capabilities.”

Leibowitz further stated that Liquidnet is a “natural partner given our strength within the issuer community and we are looking forward to delivering this new offering to our customers and to adding Liquidnet t InfraRed to our growing array of issuer services.”
