Chi-X Europe Names Mark Howarth Interim CEO

Chi-X Europe Names Mark Howarth Interim CEO

Chi-X Europe, operator of the largest pan-European equity multilateral trading facility (MTF), today named Mark Howarth Interim Chief Executive Officer, subject to standard regulatory approvals.

“Through its technology, market model and incredibly lean cost basis, Chi-X Europe has been able to not only survive amid great competition, but also thrive,” said Howarth in a company release. “I look forward to working with our team to continue to provide participants with the level of service and innovation that they have come to expect from Chi-X Europe.”

Howarth for the past year has served as Chief Operating Officer for Asia-Pacific at Chi-X Global. Prior to joining Chi-X Global, Howarth served as Chief Executive Officer for Thomson Financial in Asia-Pacific, and before that spent time in senior institutional equities positions in Europe, Japan, and Hong Kong at Merrill Lynch, UBS and Instinet.

Howarth replaces Peter Randall, who recently left the firm to spend more time with his family. Mr. Randall will continue to serve in an advisory capacity. “For over three years, Peter has worked tirelessly to launch, grow and evangelize about Chi-X Europe. We thank him for his many contributions and wish him all the best in the future,” said Tony Mackay, Chairman of Chi-X Europe, in a release.
