It takes a lot to stand out online these days. Here are six brokerages that are leading the way with innovative social media strategies.

Zecco recently launched "Wall Street," which the online brokerage claims is the first Facebook application to offer free real-time stock quotes and charts. The app also allows users to trade directly from Facebook through a compact trade ticket without ever having to leave the popular social networking site. Users can share individual investment ideas with Facebook friends, "Like" a stock and see which stocks their friends "Like."

"It has all the social media capabilities to connect people with friends, see what trades they do and their portfolio positions," says Zecco CEO Michael Raneri.
