DTCC Hires Citigroup Risk Veteran Douglas George
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corp. (DTCC) hired Douglas J. George as managing director and chief risk officer. George will lead DTCC's enterprise risk management (ERM) efforts, including oversight of credit and market risk associated with all of the DTCC subsidiaries' clearing, settlement and depository activities. Additionally, George will oversee the planning of new technology to support enterprisewide risk analysis, and the development of new strategies to mitigate risk for DTCC and its member firms.
George brings more than 30 years of risk management experience, including tenures with JPMorgan and, most recently, Citigroup. "At JPMorgan and Citigroup we started efforts at risk management from scratch. Both were done in a silent environment with little technological support," he says. "Now technology plays a great role. ... Our approach is going to be to evaluate how we think about risk management, measure it and manage it."
In other moves, DTCC named CEO Donald F. Donahue chairman and CEO. The company also promoted COO William B. Aimetti to president and hired Patrick Kirby, previously managing director and global operations head of cash products at Citigroup Capital Markets and Banking, as managing director for the Asset Services Group.
