GETCO Hires Edward Boyle

The global market maker hires veteran options industry executive to focus on its relationships with exchanges, trading platforms and business development.

GETCO, the Chicago-based global market maker and automated liquidity provider, announced the hiring of Edward Boyle, an options industry veteran. Boyle will focus on GETCO’s relationships with exchanges and trading platforms and business strategy development. He will begin in early January 2011.

“Ed is a widely respected thought leader in global market structure issues,” commeted GETCO co-founder Stephen Schuler in today’s announcement. “At GETCO, Ed will play an important role in managing our relationships with the more than 50 exchanges and platforms globally on which we participate and make markets. We look forward to welcoming him to our team in the new year."

Previously, Boyle was EVP, Director of U.S. Options Exchanges, for NYSE Euronext where he was responsible for the strategic development, market structure and technology platform of the NYSE Arca Options exchange. Prior to joining NYSE Euronext in 2007, he was VP and Director of Business Development, Equity Derivatives, at TD Securities. Before that, Mr. Boyle was Managing Director, Business Development, for LETCO Trading Companies. He began his career in the securities industry in 1982.

Boyle previously served on the board of directors of the International Securities Exchange and the Options Clearing Corporation. He also has held membership and committee appointments on the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the Chicago Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.

GETCO is a registered market maker on NASDAQ, NYSE ARCA and BATS exchanges; a Supplemental Liquidity Provider on the NYSE; and a Designated Market Maker on the NYSE.
