CME Carbon Exchange to Launch

According to reports, the CME Group announced that its Green Exchange Holdings stand-alone emissions-trading exchange is expected to launch in the first quarter.

Pending regulatory approvals and customer testing, the Green Exchange will trade in a number of carbon-related products currently handled by the group’s New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) business.

Green Exchange Holdings is a joint venture with the CME and a group of banks and brokers. The initiative was initially launched in 2007 and last year Thomas Lewis was appointed CEO to build out a team and attract new partners.
