Crisis Plans Undercut
U.S. companies have upgraded their infrastructures to ensure functionality in the event of a pandemic, but few are willing to increase IT budgets to cover the additional expenses, according to survey results from infrastructure solutions provider Forsythe (Skokie, Ill.). Seventy-eight percent of 75 senior IT and business continuity professionals (8 percent of whom represent financial services organizations) surveyed report that their organizations have installed or are in the process of upgrading technology to support telecommuting or remote customer access in case of a disaster. However, only 9 percent of respondents have an increased budget with which to work and, as a result, a mere 12 percent believe that their companies are adequately prepared to handle a pandemic or major health crisis. This is in discordance with the 31 percent of participants who believe a crisis is likely to interrupt their businesses within the next two years. <<<
