Madoff's Mets Tickets Reap $7,500 on eBay
Two opening-day Mets tickets, part of a season ticket package formerly owned by convicted Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff's company, fetched $7,500 in an eBay auction Sunday morning, according to a news story on Yahoofinance.
The report notes that “The trustee tasked with liquidating Madoff's assets, Irving Picard, had filed a motion with New York bankruptcy court Tuesday seeking to sell the tickets as part of his liquidation efforts intended to return money to investor.” According to the news report, Picard said the remaining tickets in the package owned by Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities will be offered in an online auction beginning in mid-April. The motion values at $60,750 two season tickets, which are located in the Delta Club Gold section of Citi Field. The Mets sell individual tickets in that section for $225 to $525, depending on the date.
