Javelin Technologies, a provider of FIX server technology, has hired Michael Chaladoff as cfo. In that position, Chaladoff will shape Javelin’s long-term growth plans, including both financing options and strategic partnerships. Previously, he was cfo of Avatar Investors Associates Group, an investment advisory firm with over $3 billion in assets under management. Prior to that, he worked in the entertainment industry as director of financial planning and analysis for Paramount Pictures Corp. and with Warner Brothers in their licensing and merchandising division.

Tullet & Tokyo Liberty, a global interdealer broker, has released upgrades to the interface and functionality of Liberty Direct, its e-commerce system. One major upgrade is a new optional interface with one-window access to all system data and functionality. The new interface eliminates the pop-up window architecture of the original interface and allows users to access Liberty Direct over the Internet. Other new features include a trade color window that displays the real-time activity for a specific instrument at a given price. Input/output advancements include a configurable keyboard set up, which allows users to assign any action to any key on the keyboard.

The Institute for International Research is holding the Increasing Investment Management Operations Efficiencies conference on May 15-16 at the Empire Hotel in New York City. The two-day conference will focus on such issues as current theories poised to impact the buy and sell sides, the benefits of total straight-through processing, implementation and testing strategies for decimalization, increasing trade volume and effectively communicating information using the FIX protocol.
