GAIN Capital CIO Jumps to Scivantage

Andrew Haines, the former CIO of GAIN Capital Group, joins Scivantage as chief information officer.

Capital markets IT veteran Andrew Haines, who was most recently the CIO at GAIN Capital Group, has been named the chief information officer of Scivantage, a financial technology provider of online brokerage, tax and portfolio reporting and wealth management applications.

"I am very familiar with Scivantage and I had a lunch meeting with Adnane [Scivantage CEO Adnane Charchour] and immediately we saw we were thinking the same way about business and technology," said Haines in an interview with Wall Street & Technology. "Scivantage has an impressive list of clients and I want to help the company through its next stage of growth."

Prior to GAIN Capital, Haines spent a number of years in the financial services IT space. He has held senior technology management positions at Merrill Lynch, Salomon Smith Barney, and Virtual Growth/Insperity. "It will be fun to work for a company where the sole product is technology," said Haines about this opportunity to join Scivantage.

In his new role, Haines will be responsible for working with the management team to enhance the company’s business growth and client services strategy, as well as streamline product development and delivery. "At the highest level, my role is to help streamline product development and delivery," Haines added. "That means extending our current line up of products with new features and functions, as well as launch new products and services that meet our client's needs. Also, while doing that, we need to deliver the products and services in a much more efficient manner."

Haines also plans a major push into mobile for Scivantage's investment firm clients. "I think that having a solid mobile solution is table stakes today," he says. "On the investor side, we are looking to make a big push into the mobile front. Mobile is critical to the wealth management community."

Although there are many ways to offer a mobile solution and wealth management customers want various types of features, offering mobile capabilities reinforces the relationship with the wealth management customer. "Even the most passive wealth management individual still wants instant access to the portfolio," via mobile, Haines contends. "It might not as be as interesting as offering full transactional capabilities, but you can make the relationship between the clients and the wealth management professional even tighter by offering mobile capabilities."

"Andrew has worked in the financial industry for the majority of his career and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the institutional services and retail technology sectors, which will allow us to continue expanding into new markets,” Charchour said in a press release. "We are delighted to welcome Andrew to our management team and I am confident in his ability to drive Scivantage's innovation strategy as we move into the next phase of our growth."

Haines was a 2010 Wall Street & Technology Gold Book honoree, as one of the industry’s most innovative technology leaders. He has also been recognized by the New Jersey Technology Council as the 2012 “CIO of the Year." Haines holds a Masters in Information Management from the Stevens Institute of Technology. In addition, he earned a BS in Business Administration with a focus in Finance and a Minor in Management Information/Decision Support Systems from the University of Delaware.
