Peter Bartko has been named CEO and director of Forexster Limited, the recently established Bermuda-based online-dealing facility for FX. Bartko, who has been in the FX industry for 20 years, says his background of founding EBS, an electronic-broker for interbank-FX, will contribute to his experience at Forexster.
"For any start-up, your initial focus has to be on generating business," Bartko explains, noting that Forexster is working to get two banks up and running. "We've got to make sure that the technology looks terrific, that it works, and continues to work and deliver." The buy side of FX is a new focus for Bartko, who came out of retirement to take on this position. "There are a lot of different banks in the world, all with different focuses and different niches that they aim at," he says. "We need to figure out how to help each of these banks in their own way."
While the market is crowded, Bartko claims that Forexster has a unique offering in this space, adding that, "They've figured out how to deal with some of the credit issues in this marketplace."
Bartko succeeds Forexster's founder Arman Glodjo, who takes on the role of chairman.
