StreamBase Upgrades Its Complex Event Processing Platform

StreamBase, a provider of complex event processing tools, has made several announcements at the SIFMA show this week, including a major upgrade of its basic platform and joint development work with Microsoft, IBM and Sybase. First of all, StreamBase has transformed its development environment to be based on the Eclipse open source software framework. This will let developers writing applications in StreamBase easily incorporate Eclipse, Java and StreamSQL plug-ins into their work.

Second, the company has started building application frameworks, starting with an algorithmic trading framework, that company representatives say incorporate best practices building blocks that should save developers time in writing custom applications.

Third, StreamBase has created a multi-event pattern matching feature for its toolkit that should help developers build applications that recognize the order, presence or absence of complex combinations of events in real-time.

To expand developers’ options for the visualization component of their applications, StreamBase added integration with Adobe Flex, Microsoft Windows Presentation, Java Swing, and Eclipse Standard Widget Toolkit.

StreamBase also announced that its complex event processing now integrates with Sybase’s Real-Time Analytics Platform to support real-time applications with large storage requirements, such as back-testing for algorithmic trading, risk analysis and historical trade auditing.

And in a partnership with Microsoft, StreamBase is offering a CEP Reference Architecture that describes the real-time sections of an algorithmic trading system and its presentation layer components.
