Luminary Capital Management, a recently-formed hedge fund, has chosen the FNX technology solution Sierra Treasury to handle trade capture and risk management. The global macro hedge fund selected Sierra Treasury because of its ability to cater to Luminary Capital's investment in varied asset classes as well as its front-end analytics and straight-through-processing capabilities, according to Mark Mazzonelli, a founding partner at the hedge fund. According to FNX, Sierra Treasury will provide the fund with a range of trading, position management and P&L monitoring capabilities.

Financial advisors at Horace Mann Educators Corporation, an insurance company focused on educators and their families, recently selected SunGard Planning Station as a web-based financial planning workstation on 700 advisor desktops. The solution will also include SunGard's integrated Synapse rules-based engine to enable product profiling and identification of cross-selling opportunities. The technology solution is designed to help financial planners compare investment scenarios, perform modeling on client portfolios and create visually appealing presentations for clients.

Linedata Services, a financial management systems vendor, recently bought front-office technology for investment analytics, modeling, order entry, compliance and reporting as well as data integration and reporting from Thomson Financial. In addition to Thomson Financial's PreView tools set and Portfolio Analyst Reporter, Linedata also purchased Thomson Financial's Icon, Icon ASP and Icon Retail applications for back-office investment management. According to Linedata, the purchase will increase the company's clientele by 60, and help Linedata to increase its presence in the European market.

At least we can admire the nice weather and some of the best quotes of the week.
