Mellon Financial Corporation acquires Eagle Investment Systems Corp.; ADVISORport announces agreements with five broker-dealers.

Mellon Financial Corporation and Eagle Investment Systems Corp. announced a definitive agreement under which Mellon will acquire Eagle, a privately held developer of Web-based investment management software solutions in an effort to enhance the range and technological sophistication of investment support services available from Mellon Global Securities Services (GSS).

ADVISORport announced that it has signed agreements to provide its online, investment consulting platform to five additional broker-dealers, including:

* Triad Advisors, Marietta, Ga.

* Securities Service Network, Knoxville, Ten.

* Medallion Group, Severna, Md.

* United Securities Alliance (USA), Denver, Colo.

* Syndicated Capital Corporation, Santa Monica, Calif.
